Toronto, Canada, December 17, 2007- Banyan University (Banyan U), the training division of Banyan Commerce announced their alliance with RFID4U, the world's largest RFID elearning portal. Banyan U will offer RFID courses along with RFID certification classes to the Canadian corporate and government sector. This is the first time such classes will be available in an elearning format in Canada. The free courses are targeted at small and medium enterprises and are comprehensive in nature like RFID Basics and RFID compliance for DOD.
Banyan U until recently only offered courses to members of Banyan Circle- a user group for Banyan, Integral and Tangentia Customers. This is the first attempt to provide courses to non users of the Banyan Commerce software platform.
Announcing the alliance Sanjiv Dua, CEO of RFID4U says "We are looking forward to working
with Banyan U to provide courses with Canadian content, Canadian context and possibly
Canadian pricing." All the courses provided by RFID4U will be available in French in the near
future and there is an introductory 10% discount for Canadian organizations on all courses.
The initial course offering will be elearning courses which can also be had on a site license basis for
organizations wanting multiple users to undergo the same training course. Classroom sessions
will be arranged onsite for larger Companies and government organizations. Regular classroom
sessions are planned for Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver in 2008.
Tamas Perlaky, a partner at Banyan Commerce was upbeat about the alliance. He said "With
RFID education, we think Canadian companies can take better decisions in terms of their RFID
solutions and not just get swayed by vendor's marketing spin. We think that educating
customers and finding out that they select a competitor's solution is a risk worth taking".
Banyan U also plans to open portions of Banyan Labs to the public as a demo lab for companies
to see how technology - EDI, RFID, Bar-Coding and Data Synchronization can make B2B simpler.
