RFID 311 - RFID Fundamentals for Engineers
Course Language :  English, French (coming soon)
 Course Duration :  2 hours +
 Price :  $349
 Audience
Anyone who needs to learn about interaction between RFID tags and readers. People involved in design, selection and implementation of RFID system.
 Prerequisites
RFID 211 and basic knowledge of data communication
 Course Description
Deployment of RFID technology requires installation of RFID readers in the facility and having tagged items pass through these readers' field. The environment within as well as surrounding the facility affects how efficiently the readers can read the tag. This makes each facility unique with unique problems requiring custom solutions. Knowing how readers and tag communicate and how RF waves are reflected, scattered, and absorbed helps eliminate these problems. In this course you will learn how RFID readers power passive tags and communicate with them. You will gain knowledge of signal modulation, noise, link budget, read range and anti-collision algorithms. This course will provide you the knowledge required to design, select, and install RFID hardware. We will cover:
  • Key definitions for Radio Frequency and data communications
  • Overview of RF basics: modulation, spectrum, noise, and link budget
  • RFID Physical Layer and Data link layer
  • Passive power schemes and read range
  • Tag link budget and noise
  • Various types of reader and tag antennas
  • Tag anti-collision algorithms
  • Gen 2 standards
